Updated: Dec 12, 2019
Interested in staying current with the latest updates in the world of technology? In case you missed it, Mary Meeker’s 2017 Internet Trends Report is available.
Following are a few trends of interest:
Trend: Social Media Takes Role in Improving Customer Experience
When asked to identify how an organization could improve its customer service, easier access to online support channels was identified as the top opportunity.
Trend: eCommerce Resurgence
Former darlings of the mall era—The Limited, Sears, Macy’s, JC Penny and Ann Taylor, to name a few—continue to shutter stores. Meanwhile, stores doing customer experience well, like Warby Parker, continue to open stores even as eCommerce thrives—as evidenced by 18% Y/Y growth with online retail sales in the U.S.
Trend: Retailers Adopt Augmented Reality
As customer experience continues to drive how brands differentiate, retailers are adopting augmented reality (AR) to improve the in-store shopping experience. Lowe’s embraces augmented reality to help guide consumers with finding products within its stores.
